Today I'm taking you to meet an extraordinary artist who has had a profound impact on my photographic work: Milunaire. In the pursuit of photographic art, finding themes to explore and pushing the boundaries of creativity is essential. When it comes to representing the feminine, we photographers are often faced with a dilemma. There is nothing more beautiful or divine than the female body. Nudity has inspired artists since the dawn of time, as if to capture the mystery of creation, but also to explore the call, the desire that drives us towards its beauty.
If a woman is not magnificently naked, then she could simply be dressed. To dress a woman in photography is to move towards fashion photography, an art form that I deeply respect, but which has never really attracted me. I've never recognised myself in the depiction of women as mere 'portmanteau' of clothing. Fortunately, my artistic encounters have opened doors to new perspectives, thanks in particular to exceptional stylists who have become inexhaustible sources of inspiration.
Milunaire occupies a special place among these memorable encounters. Her pseudonym evokes her deep connection with the moon and her boundless creativity. Milunaire is a sensitive artist and an incredibly passionate woman, creating outfits that defy the imagination. I've been lucky enough to work with her on a number of occasions. As she's not from Paris, we've met several times with several of her outfits and models, moments of pure magic. Each dress, veil and drape, meticulously designed by Milunaire, became living works of art under her watchful eye. Her presence was indispensable, because some of her creations were so complex that I could never have managed them alone.
Here are some of the marvels that Milunaire has created and that the models and I have tried to honour with these images, which I hope will inspire you as much as we loved creating them.
In a style that is always dreamlike and above all unique, note the richness and complexity of the details, and the love given to each outfit, headdress and accessory. It's simply marvellous. Inspired by nature, these outfits have found a natural place in my work. Thank you again Milunaire for all these creative moments.
You can find these images in the "Dreamlike", "Romantic", "Nature" and "Primitive" galleries.
