Story of a shoot - Fed up with censorship 2/2

In one of my last articles I told you about my tumultuous and creative relationship with censorship on Instagram. The article can be found here: Censorship 1/2

Today I'd like to share with you another shoot that was totally inspired by this creative constraint!

On instagram I follow a fascinating New York artist, a painter and draughtsman who is ultra-talented and tireless: Daniel Maidman. JI've always found her work incredible, and the realism and emotions her drawings convey are impressive. I've already given my partner a drawing of her based on one of our photos, and the result is breathtaking.

Do you notice anything about Daniel's drawings posted on instagram? No censorship! When I looked into the subject a little I realised that the rules were a little more permissive for painted or drawn works. Based on this idea, I came up with a series of photos to express this famous paradox of censorship! What if I included drawings in my photos? One day, with my partner, I'm going to do just that. (@ange_ofgwen) and our friend Roza. (@roza.novarchuck) we achieved this rogue circumvention of censorship.

To make these images, I used 2 photos with a large sheet of white A2 paper. The first with the sheet and then, without moving too much, one without the sheet. Using the sheet mask on photoshop I took the exact portions of the bodies concerned, I also kept the shadows and highlights on the sheet, then applied a drawing filter. Here are the raw photos for a better understanding.

Don't hesitate to like or comment on this article! It's motivating to talk about it with you :)

 See you soon
